  9.                Manager/X program has been discontinued.  This
  10.                discontinuance was announced in the March 15th issue of
  11.                Computer News.  The remainder of this letter is a copy
  12.                of the network hotline that explains the demo program
  13.                that replaces the Trial-Size LAN Manager/X program.

  33.                The Trial-Size HP LAN Manager/X program has been
  34.                discontinued immediately in lieu of a new HP LAN
  35.                Manager/X demo program.

  38.                Customers who request Trial-Size LAN Manager/X via a
  39.                business-reply card are being sent a letter explaining
  40.                how to obtain a copy of the LAN Manager/X demo from
  41.                their Sales Representative.  A copy of this letter is
  42.                included later in this hotline article.  In this letter
  43.                they are told to call their HP Sales Representative and
  44.                ask to arrange to have a demo copy of LAN Manager/X
  45.                version 1.3 installed on their system.

  48.                The demo license when used with version 1.3 of HP LAN
  49.                Manager/X for the HP 9000 provides full-featured use
  50.                that will expire 30 days after installation.

  57.           2.   Providing your customer with an HP LAN Manager/X demo

  59.                To install the HP LAN Manager/X demo on your customer's
  60.                system:

  62.                     1)  You must have a copy of the version 1.3 of LAN
  63.                     Manager/X for the HP 9000 software (either B1011C
  64.                     for the HP 9000 model 600/700/800 or B1003C for
  65.                     the HP 9000 model 300/400).  If you have not
  66.                     received this through an SE distribution, place an
  67.                     order at TAC price.

  69.                     2)  Print out a copy of the license agreement
  70.                     (included in the next section of this document).
  71.                     It includes the demo license number's you'll need
  72.                     to activate LM/X for your customer.  Give your
  73.                     customer a copy of this license when you install
  74.                     the software for him.

  85.                has features to prevent unauthorized copying of the
  86.                software and requires that you enter a serial number
  87.                and activation key before you can start the server.

  89.                pairs.  The demo activation key will activate the
  90.                software to be used for 30 days after it is installed.

  116.                activation key you must log on as the super-user or
  117.                root and run the licensing program, called lmlic.  To
  118.                run lmlic, enter /usr/lib/lm/lmlic.  If you are
  119.                updating an existing license to add more user, be sure
  120.                to restart the LAN Manager/X server after you have
  121.                finished adding your new serial number and activation
  122.                key.
